Hello Palm Springs

SNOW in Palm Springs! Wow! The day after Christmas my mom decided to take the family on a rode trip to Palms Springs, I’ve been so many times but not in years. If you don’t know about Palms Springs here is some quick deets: Palm Springs is in the Sonoran Desert of Southern California, its known for its hot springs, stylish hotels, and spas. If you are into vintage boutiques, interior design shops and restaurants this is the place to be! Many people stop here when they go to Coachella because its surrounds that valley.

Usually we stay at my moms local Timeshare but this time the Hyatt Palm Springs was calling our names. The two bedroom suite is a perfect vaction getaway: two full size beds, two TV’s, pull out couch, balcony view of the main strip, mini fridge, and cute bathroom made my stay comfortable.

My highlight of this trip was the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. First off let me tell you, if you want to go on this adventure be prepare to wait a couple of hours. Since my mom has a Timeshare we bought $20 tickets from them which includes access to the front the line. The 8,516 feet view is worth the wait. This is the world’s largest rotating tramcar. It takes you all the way up to Mt. San Jacinto State Park which has many things to do: camp grounds, hiking, nature exhibits, cafe, and even snow where my cousin and I tried to build a snowman.

Even though it was cold I wore my INC Faux-Leather Colorblocked Pencil Skirt. Im a size 20/22 but this skirt fits small so I sized up to have more room to a 24. I love this faux-leather skirt, the side zipper brings some edge to it.I paired this skirt with a tank top and brown boots (last years) both from Forever21 Plus, a Black Suede Fringe Jacket (similar), black Ashley Stewart tights (I get the largest size because they run small to me), and the purse and shades were gifts.

I hope you loved my outfit and my adventures in Palm Springs with my family because I had a lovely time. Next month my girlfriends and I are coming to stay which is exciting.

Remember Plus Size women are Dime pieces which is Top of the line,Always, 2SNAPS to that!

Winter in  Atlanta

Being from Cali I never really get to experience different seasons, but this past Thanksgiving I fell in Love with Winter! This was my first Thanksgiving spent with my Haitian fam in ATL, a well spent one must I add.

In addition to eating all the delicous Haitian food and the Rhum I went a lot of places with my cousins. After brunch one day I told my cousin to stop in this beautiful field with fall leaves. Its nothing like seeing brown leaves change to red and orange. Makes me wanna move to the south!

H&M Plussize Jumpsuit

“NOTHING can stop me, I’m all the way UP!” Everytime I walk into H&M it brings me so much joy,how much plus size clothes they have! Most people think all the plus size clothes are only online, but that’s not true you can find them in the stores too. I found this comfortable jumper and purse right in the store. The jumper is a size 22, and fit just right.

Hope you love my jumper as much as I do.

Fall In Love With Gwynnie Bee

Last weekend I was so excited to sign up for gwynnie bee! “Gwynnie Bee is an online women’s clothing subscription service for sizes 10-32”. Basically you fill your closet online then when you get your items try it, wear it or love it! And I fell in love with this fall look.

This week I received this sexy chic floral print dress by Junarose. This dress is true to size, I decided to get a 22 and it fit just right. I had my item for about a week, and today I shipped it back. I can’t wait to see my next package.

Target’s Skirt~Back To School Night

Yesterday was Back To School Night for my students.I shopped my closet as usual! Usually I wear all black to meet my students parents but this year I wanted a pop of color. RED it is! But first, my chic black and white Target skirt was my staple piece that I worked around to style my outfit. The skirt was paired with my Burlington Coat Factory red shoes and I brought the peplum shirt back.

6 Things A Plus Size Bridesmaid Needs to know About Dresses

The last couple of weddings I’ve been in I was the only plus size girl. Too some this may not be a problem, but for me finding a bridesmaid dress gets a bit difficult. Many thoughts run through my mind, Is the bride going to make us wear strapless? Are my arms going to show? What color will she choose?  Will I look good in the dress?
The first bridal shop many Brides go to is David’s Bridal. There is nothing wrong with David’s Bridal but some of the dresses don’t really fit the way I would like them to. TIP:Remember to size up and do alterations later. Its cheaper if you don’t do it in the store.

Last week I was the Maid of Honor in my best friends wedding. I really lucked out because I found the dress at Elegant Lace Bridal in the store, this is where the Bride got her dress as well. One thing I loved about this shop is they carry Alfred Angelo dresses. Alfred Angelo dresses is heaven for any Bride for their Bridesmaids, you may ask why? If you have a different sizes in your wedding this company sizes 0-30w in most dresses and there is no price difference. This means your smaller bridesmaid will pay the same amount as a Fancydime like myself. Yay! Other companies may charge a bit more for plus size dresses.

My spring violet Modern Vintage dress was absolutely beautiful with soft net material. I sized up to 24, but usually wear a size 22. The dress was floor length with fluff out sleeves, this is what made my day. Click here for a similar Modern Vintage look

  1. Most bridesmaids dresses are not true to size, you will have to go up 1 to 2 sizes. Don’t worry that doesn’t mean you got bigger.
  2. Cost: Almost all the Plus Size Bridesmaid dress cost is more than straight size dresses.  Alfred Angelo is one of the only bridal places that all the dresses 0-30w are the same price.
  3. Making Alterations: this could cost a lot but if its something you can sew DIY, but if not check your local cleaners, seamstress or even Joanns/ Beverly’s for help.
  4. Strapless bra &Spanx: Make sure to wear the proper under garments. The Bridesmaid dress that I wore had a build-in bra so I decided no bra and the dress held me in so no spanx but a good pair of underwear!
  5. Shoes: When doing alterations make sure to bring the heels/shoes you will wear the day of the wedding.
  6.  Have Confidence: Make sure you look in the mirror to see how beautiful you are. Your hair, make up and most importantly the Dress…smile and know you’re the Shhhh.

Its a great experience being a Bridesmaid but know its a lot of work as well. The dress is only one important part of the experience, the other is making the Bride happy! Make sure you share your bridesmaid looks with me. Hope you loved the tips and my look.!

Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

Its nothing like having a surprise day for your two nieces. About a week ago I planned to take my Goddaughter and my friends daughter to Santa Cruz! I was in for a treat because my cousin and one of my bestie decided to come too.

If you ever decide to go to Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk you can go for Retro Monday and Tuesday nights (5pm-close). Everything is $1! All the rides, sodas, and hot dogs. I got on so many rides but its nothing like the old school bumper cars.

When You Shop Your Mom’s Closet

Have you ever shopped your mom’s closet before? I’ve been in LA for the past two weeks and needed something new to wear. I call my mom’s closet a store because she has new purses, dresses and skirts with the tags on them, accessories and some hidden treasures. Lets just say I love to come home not only to see my beautiful mom but to see what’s in her 2 closets.

The other day I went to Venice Beach to the Erwin Hotel to catch the sunset on the rooftop. I shopped my mom’s closet and found this simple but chic black and white Lane Bryant dress. The white clutch is from Forever21 and shoes from Macy’s Material Girl (similar). Hope you love my outfit as much as I did. If you’re in LA make sure to put this on one of your stops.
