Featured Fridays ~Floral Print

Featured Fridays is a way that I can showcase Curvaceous and Plus Size Women rockin’ an outfit that I would wear or simply because I like their style. Also I will showcase fashionable local businesses that cater to curvaceous and plus size women. Today I have decided to feature a fabulous 5th grade teacher named Dominique originally from LA, but lives in Oakland. When you’re an educator sometimes you have to get dress in a hurry and find outfits that can get dirty with all your students hugs and art projects that you may encounter in a day. My friend Dominique chose the perfect option a cute floral dress. One of the best parts of this dress besides the floral print is the silver zipper in the back. I love love love the gold zipper in the back of the dress! I hope you enjoy this floral look and make sure you check every Friday for more curvaceous Features, it just might be you!

Remember that curvaceous and plus size women are dime pieces who are top of the line and nothing less, always, 2 SNAPS TO THAT!

Naturally Queen

Featured Fridays is a way that I can showcase fashionable local businesses that cater to curvy and plus size women, trends, fashion, natural hair or something I simply love. Today I have decided to feature my friend Talilah, but known too many as Naturally Queen. Naturally Queen has been doing hair for 20 years and has been natural for 13 years. Recently she decided to follow her passion of natural hair, make-up and jewelry by taking it on as a full time job. Naturally Queen works in partnership with Mahogany Roots all natural hair and skin care center. Her primary focus is to Educate, Empower, and Transform the lives of women and girls.

After attending one of Naturally Queen’s natural hair workshops it really made me think of how I spend a lot of my nights braiding my hair, so in the morning the definition of the crinkle is almost perfect. When Naturally Queen braided my hair I didn’t like it, I was use to the freedom of my wild looking hair. I’ve always had natural hair and never a perm before. When I saw the braided style the first thought was “I love my big hair, how it flows and moves”, but I grew to look beyond my hair and truly look at me. Who am I? I guess India Arie told us a long time ago “we are not our hair”, we sure aren’t. That day I fell back in love with the natural me, the natural beauty, the beautiful natural hair that I have, thank you Naturally Queen. Naturally Queen is not just a amazing hair stylist, she is a natural hair educator which I love most about her. I enjoy her beautiful spirit and fabulous talents of handmade jewelry and stylish outfits to name a few.

I leave you with something that empowered, educated, and transformed my life through the braids of my natural hair. Naturally Queen told me that “hair is a journey; it’s not about the destination, loving yourself inside and out is the ultimate goal”.

Featured Fridays is a way that I can showcase Curvaceous and Plus Size Women rockin’ an outfit that I would wear or simply because I like their style. Also showcase fashionable local businesses that cater to curvy and plus size women, trends, fashion, nautral hair or something I simply love. Today I have decided to feature a local trendy clothing store in Oakland called Collage Clothing Lounge.

I love Collage Clothing Lounge (COLLAGE)! The owner, Amanda, creates such a warm, welcoming atmosphere with turn tables, upbeat music and trendy looks for all sizes. I stumbled into Collage last April while I was waiting for my friends. My first reaction was “do they have my size or can anything fit me?” One of the staff, who might I add is plus size and has great style showed me a great selection of clothes that she wears in the store. She made everything personable for me, that day I met Amanda who welcomed me like family. Amanda’s spirit is amazing; she made sure that I felt welcomed in her beautiful store full of soulful art pieces, a live DJ, unique clothes, scarves, hats, belts, purses, and jewelry.

When I met Amanda and her staff a year ago was the day I told myself never to look at size again, but always look at the quality and stretch in a particular clothing item. Don’t feel afraid to go into a store that doesn’t “look” like they carry curvy or plus size clothing, they just might like Collage. Oakland has a lot of hidden treasures and I believe Collage is one of those. I love bringing my friends to shop at this cute store that I call my “boutique”, especially on Champagne and Beats Fridays, which is on the last Friday of every month while you’re shopping.

If you are in Oakland make sure one of your stops is Collage Clothing Lounge which caters to all sizes and tell them Fancydime sent you!

Monday Music~The Truth

Happy Monday,

Today a couple of thoughts ran through my mind, which made me think of several India.Arie songs. “The Truth” by India.Arie is a perfect description of my day. This song reminds me of my friend, the great memories and moments that we spent together. Everyone has a great memory that pops into their mind, do you remember yours?

I hope you enjoy and have a wonderful week.

Featured Fridays~Crop Top Love

20130902_174806Featured Fridays is a way that I can showcase Curvaceous and Plus Size Women rockin’ an outfit that I would wear or simply because I like their style. Also I will showcase fashionable local businesses that cater to curvaceous and plus size women. Today I have decided to feature my Curvaceous friend from Richmond, CA named Fred. I was at a summer BBQ when Fred wore this cute print skirt and crop top that I fell in love with. My first question was where did you get your outfit? I love the colors of this outfit and you can wear this in summer or fall. Fred inspired the blog post called “It’s A Crop Top Kind of Day”, which I felt so amazing wearing the entire outfit. She is a confident woman who is fashionable and loves trying different looks out. She is wearing a blue leopard print skirt with a crop top. I love this outfit! Make sure you check every Friday for more curvaceous Features, it just might be you! I hope you enjoy.

Curvy In Camouflage

1116
I went to Lane Bryant a couple of weeks ago and found this cute camouflage shirt that I fell in love with, but didn’t know what to wear with it. I have never really worn the military look, but since it is back in style I decided to see how it looks on me. Other than the shirt being comfortable, the hint of fuchsia at the sleeves and brown studded jewels on the collar really make it girlie, which I love! I decided to match this camouflage shirt with my skinny red jeans and a skinny red belt (everything doesn’t have to match as long as it looks great together). This outfit is a two in one, I first put on my combat boots like I was about to step in a step show and then put on my wedges to step out to a party. If you are looking for a comfortable outfit that is trendy and girlie this is it! Let me know how you like the look.

Monday Music~Like You

Monday Music is usually inspired by my cousin AJ, but today is my best friend Fenicia’s birthday and she has inspired me to post music by one of her favorite artist. Fenicia has gotten me into Erk Tha Jerk’s music so I dedicated this Monday Music to her. There is no one like her, so it’s only natural that one of my inspirations inspires this week’s Monday Music. Please enjoy this song called “Like You”.
